Doesn't Britain have a National Archives? That would be the place for them.

as far as I know the British Library acquired an original copy of Karl Marx's Capital, so can't Orwell's work go there as well?

And just around the corner from the British Library is the Orwell archive at UCL. Don't know why these Orwell documents can't go there.

It does, and it would be! But I've seen nothing to suggest that the National Archives are interested. There's also the Orwell archives at UCL.

I don't quite understand this. Wouldn't preserving Orwell be great for Britain's soft power?
