It’s hard to believe that this little pup, Cosy Moments, was born a year ago. I’m eager to see how it will develop, and hope one day to see it grow into a loyal and lovable hound. Cosy Moments cannot be muzzled.
I’m grateful to have so many thoughtful subscribers, and am especially thankful to everyone who is paying to read Cosy Moments. If you’re currently freeloading a free subscriber, please consider taking out a paid subscription. I currently have a day job but would love to work on Cosy Moments full time, because writing for you is what I enjoy doing the most.

those were some tough questions for a substack reader! Since I'm mostly interested in political journalists at substack, I can't remember how I came across your work, but too much politics is not very inspiring and your work offers a much appreciated antidote to it. I like books and I like reading, but I've never much been in a position to buy books, they're quite expensive. I buy them for others though (present), but not for myself. OK, so public library, here I come! Which worked fine for several years, but I stopped going there because all the libraries (and churches) closed during the covid scare-demic. Fortunately all over the city where I live friendly reading people have installed modest bookcases, filled with books and titles I would never have known about, free to take, and where I can leave the books I'm finished with. Thus the books keep moving, which is how it should be. Similarly knowledge, insights and ideas should be free and shared as well, which is why I liked your article on Jane Eyre: academia lives on a different planet, much too rigid, while personal interpretations are so much more interesting. So congratulations on the 1st year of your endeavour! Hopefully there'll be more installments soon and TQ for all the work you do.
Congratulations, William.
